What is VO2 Testing?

VO2 testing reveals the exercise level that will optimize a person's ability to burn fat. Without VO2 testing, fitness professionals rely on estimates to determine what level of intensity would be "aerobic" or fat burning. VO2 testing will give you the precise level of intensity that will maximize the amount of fat you burn.

What to expect during the test

The VO2 test measures the amount of oxygen your body uses at different exertion levels while you exercise on a bike or treadmill. This is done as you breathe through a mask during a short workout. The trainer will instruct you to gradually increase your intensity over a period of 6 to 20 minutes. You can cool down while your Target Intensity Zones are calculated and printed in a simple report.

 

 

Benefits of VO2 Testing

Exercising at different levels of intensity will meet different goals. Some intensities burn more fat, some increase endurance and some focus on strengthening your heart. The VO2 test will show you Target Intensity Zones that pinpoint your specific heart rates required for you to exercise at each level. Pushing beyond one's optimal training zone can lead to fatigue and discomfort, when you know your zones, cardiovascular exercise is comfortable. With this test, your trainer can customize a workout based on your unique level of fitness instead of a formula leading to results based on your personal goals.

VO2 testing is $100 per test. This includes the breathing mask kit and a printed report of you results and Target Intensity Zones. Schedule both a VO2 and Metabolic test and receive 15% off.
